Who we are
Wondereel is a curated video platform for children, operated by Webcure (Australia). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at wondereelapp@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
Wondereel collects the minimum information needed to make the app work:
- Account information — your email address and a PIN you choose. Used to authenticate you and protect your family's content.
- Child profile information — a first name and an age band (e.g. "2–4 years") that you enter for each child. This is entered by you as the parent or guardian, not by the child. It is used solely to organise playlists and apply age-appropriate session settings.
- Playlist and video data — the YouTube videos you choose to add to your child's playlists. We store the video ID and title you provide.
- Custom icons you upload — if you upload an image to use as an icon for a playlist or passion you've created, we store that image. You're responsible for only uploading images you have the right to use.
We do not collect: location data, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or any information directly from children.
Aggregate usage data
To help us understand which parts of Wondereel are working well and improve the app over time, we log a small number of anonymous events — for example, that a starter pack was added, or that a Wind Down playlist was set up. These events record only the type of action, the relevant age band, and a timestamp. They never include your name, email, child's name, or anything that could identify your family, and they never record what a specific child watches or for how long. This data is used in aggregate only, to inform decisions about the app — it is not used to personalise or change what any individual child sees.
How we store it
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a managed database platform with encryption at rest and in transit. We do not sell, share, or disclose your data to third parties for any commercial purpose.
YouTube
Videos in Wondereel are played via YouTube's embedded player. When a video plays, YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that playback. We recommend reviewing YouTube's privacy policy and, where available, enabling YouTube Kids content restrictions at the account level.
Children's privacy
Wondereel is designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. All child profile information is entered by an adult. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and children do not have their own accounts.
If you are located in the United States, please note that our service may be subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). By creating a child profile, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child and consent to the storage of their first name and age band for the purpose of organising their content.
Your rights
You can delete any child profile, playlist, or video at any time from within the app. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, contact us at wondereelapp@gmail.com and we will process your request within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
